  • Responsibilities

    As a Fieldhouse Attendant, at the City of Blue Springs Fieldhouse, you will be responsible for providing an excellent level of customer service.  You will ensure that all safety rules, and regulations are followed while meeting the needs of the facility patrons. In this role, you will help patrons in the fitness center feel welcome and comfortable using equipment and guide them in the proper use of fitness equipment machines. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the fitness center including keeping all equipment, machines, and spaces sanitized. Most importantly, you will serve as a representative for the Fieldhouse with a cheerful and welcoming attitude towards users. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervision of all facility areas. Enforces Fieldhouse policies and procedures pertaining to all areas.
    • When working in the fitness center greet all patrons entering the facility. Handle customer service inquiries and related problems. Be knowledgeable of all Fieldhouse programs and services to answer questions or channel questions to the proper staff.
    • In case of emergency, notify the appropriate agency as dictated by the emergency.
    • Assist front desk staff as needed with patron questions or issues.
    • Promote Department programs/facilities/events.
    • Monitors and works with clients during reserved events to ensure rental policies and procedures are followed. Assists in setup for court, turf, and room rentals as needed. Shows the facility to customers on evenings and weekends in absence of full-time staff.
    • Keeps rooms in the facility neat and orderly. Performs light cleaning according to schedule.
    • When working in the fitness center always monitor equipment for proper use. Report any maintenance needs or equipment issues to supervisor immediately.
    • Give equipment orientations to those that request or those that are new.
    • Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
    • Communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and co-workers.
    • Assist Recreation staff with class lists and rosters as needed
    • Follows protocols for opening and closing of the facility.
    • Assists with other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE This position is available to candidates that are currently in high school - or that have completed a high school diploma or an equivalent type of program.  

    First Aid/CPR desired or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment (we will provide this training). SKILLS, COMPETENCIES & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Skills -Clear communication skills required. Ability to provide supervision to assigned areas of the facility. Maintain positive relationships with members and patrons. Competencies -Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment. Communicate effectively with patrons. Physical Requirements-Must be able to stand for prolonged periods; must be able to walk frequently; must be able to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and use general office equipment. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
