    BENEFITS COORDINATOR

     

     

    POSITION TITLE:                          Benefits Coordinator

    DEPARTMENT:                             Human Resources

    EMPLOYMENT STATUS                 Non-Exempt; Full-Time

    SALARY:                                       NU Grade 6; $44,408 - $49,004.80 per year (based on hourly pay scale)

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:          High School Diploma or greater

     

    SUMMARY

     

    The CITY OF CHICOPEE’S DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES is hiring a BENEFITS COORDINATOR to be responsible for the daily operations of the City’s benefits program. This work includes research, analysis, compliance, orientation, benefits administration, enrollment, cancellations, plan changes, billing, auditing and other general HR functions.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE

     

    ·         Overseeing City-wide wellness initiatives; serve on the Wellness Committee

    ·         Administering, collecting, entering, filing and reporting new enrollment, changes in existing coverage, cancellation, and termination of coverage

    ·         Resolve employee issues with benefits administrators and insurance providers as needed

    ·         Balancing all deductions for Chicopee Contributory Retirement and the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (“MTRS”)

    ·         Balancing all insurance accounts, monthly, including posting all changes to accounts

    ·         Resolving employee issues with benefits administrators and insurance providers

    ·         Maintaining employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits, during orientation sessions and/or individually

    ·         Other responsibilities as required, directed or as situation dictates.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:

     

    ·         A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Benefits Administration

    •        An Associate’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or in another related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in Benefits Administration;

    •        Or an equitable combination of education and/or experience that enables performance of all aspects of this position

    ·         ERP, HRIS, and MS Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    ·         Knowledge of applicable laws related to benefits and insurance administration

     

    SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

    This is a FULL TIME, 40 hour work week position.

    _This role is classified as GRADE 6, with a minimum starting pay _ between $44,408 - $49,004.80 PER YEAR ($21.35 - $23.56 per hour) PER THE NON-UNION PAY SCALE, CONTINGENT UPON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE, with periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee.
