    We are seeking an experience software engineer, with deep knowledge of real time systems including low level software such as bootstrap loaders, drivers, and interrupt driven architecture as well as a strong working knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), both commercially available and open source.  The qualified candidate will utilize strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills in software, hardware, and the interfaces between them to triage and resolve difficult problems.  The position requires close interaction with Hardware Design Engineering to confirm that the proposed hardware architecture supports the intended software implementation.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead small software teams performing software development, verification, and integration activities
    • Lead detailed discussions concerning software requirements, architecture, and test strategy decisions
    • Provide oversight and guidance to less senior members of the staff to mitigate potential issues
    • Establish tailored software concepts, practices and procedures at the team or department level
    • Use problem solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve difficult software/hardware/integration issues
    • Generate documentation in support of formal certification of avionics software and present the life-cycle data to the FAA and foreign certification authorities as required to gain certification approval

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
    • 5+ years of experience in software development
    • Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills
    • Capable of working independently
    • Excellent verbal and written skills
    • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Assembly
    • Background developing software in a structured development environment with strict documentation, configuration management and problem tracking requirements.
    • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office tools
    • Experience with embedded systems architecture
    • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems
    • Experience with both computer and micro-controller software, hardware and interfaces
    • Experience with low level software (e.g.: drivers, boot loaders, interrupt driven architecture)
    • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Residence Card Holder

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in safety-critical industry (e.g.: aviation, automotive, medical)
    • Familiarity with DO-178 processes
    • Familiarity with avionics standards including ARINC and RTCA

    Education/Experience:

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.

     

    Certificates and Licenses:

    A valid driver’s license from the state that the employee resides as well as a clean driving record. Must be accessible to appropriate and reliable transportation to perform essential duties and responsibilities. CPR Certification encouraged but not mandatory.
