    We are seeking a dynamic and motivated DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING OPERATIONS – STEEL FRAMING located in the Chesterfield, MO office. 

    THE STRUCTURAL FRAMING DIVISION OF MITEK® USA INC., A SUBSIDIARY OF BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY, INC. is driven to provide innovative structural solutions to the commercial building industry focused around Building Envelope Design, Manufacturing, Steel Framing and Structural Engineered Designs.  

    Our Steel Framing Department is looking for a talented DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING OPERATIONS, who will supervise the Chesterfield Engineering office and help set engineering policies for Steel Framing Engineering.

    • Establish methods and practices to ensure engineering productivity of the engineering staff.
    • Lead engineering development of new products/principles that foster innovation and growth of MiTek Steel Framing.
    • Develop atmosphere conducive of customer-driven results.
    • Develop and expand partnership with MiTek Global Services (Platinum Global) to better utilize that team. Work with Research & Development to decide engineering approaches in new software and products.

    Required Skills

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

    • Lead the managers of the Chesterfield Engineering departments.
    • Perform job reviews for direct reports.
    • Work with Director –Steel Framing to determine Engineering capacity.
    • Determine the needed staffing levels throughout the year.
    • Coordinate with PEs and engineering managers to determine engineering policies.
    • Oversee the writing of all engineering articles for industry publications, technical notes shared with Steel Framing component manufacturers and the CFS industry.
    • Work with Software Product Management and IT to determine projects and priorities for Workflow.
    • Work with Director and Software Product Management to determine engineering approaches in the design software and priorities.
    • Oversee the maintenance and development of Engineering Standard Details.
    • Discusses design modifications and reviews appropriate design methodologies with customers.
    • Assists customers in troubleshooting issues and design problems.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree Required
    • Ten (10) or more years of experience in structural design

     

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    MS Office Suite of Products. Truss Design Software, Auto CAD Architecture, Revit a plus.

     

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Professional Engineer License, College degree in Civil Engineering or other related Engineering field. Strong skills in algebra, trigonometry, physics, statistics and strength of materials is required. Experience with cold-formed steel preferred. Some travel will be required, domestic and potentially international.

     

    TRAVEL

    Travel required for this position, up to 30%. Domestic travel with potential for international travel.
