    The Wastewater CSO Inspector/Pretreatment Coordinator is an entry to mid-level position. Incumbents normally advance to the next higher level after gaining one year of experience and achieving proficiency which meet the requirements of Waste Water Collection.     ** Job Summary:** Under minimal supervision, performs skilled technical and manual work in the daily operation and maintenance of the City's Wastewater Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s) as directed by the issued Long Term Control Plan and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit (NPDES Permit). Inspects and investigates industrial waste streams, pretreatment and treatment facilities. Investigates industrial and commercial firms to determine the nature of business, the wastewater generating processes, and the magnitude, type and strength of wastes produced. The technician will also perform other related work as assigned. Reports to the Wastewater Superintendent/Chief Operator

    ** Minimum Training and Experience : **Requires a High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Waste Water field. Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to receive the Class C Waste Water Certification within two years. May be required to possess or obtain additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.

    Physical Requirements : Must be physically able to operate a variety of tools, vehicles, heavy equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Position involves regularly sitting, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching, bending, twisting, crouching, stooping, making repetitive motions, kneeling, crawling, balancing, talking and/or hearing. The employee sometimes tastes or smells. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of more than one hundred pounds. This job is considered as moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature. The job requires manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives objects and material.
