  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of parks and trails within the City of Fife. The Recreation Leader 3 may supervise part-time subordinate staff.  Must maintain flexibility and be available to meet with supervisory staff as required. Hours of work vary up to 29.5 hours/week and include evenings and weekends.

    Any single position may not be assigned all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties that may be assigned.

    • Meets regularly with program supervisor.
    • Opens parks and playgrounds ensuring cleanliness and safety
    • Operates all motorized vehicles and equipment safely
    • Wears proper safety equipment necessary for the job
    • Performs groundskeeper work including mowing, edging, blowing, weeding, and pruning
    • Facilitates special projects with staff and community partners.
    • Assists with supervision of PT staff and volunteers
    • Attends and assists in all staff meetings as required.
    • Prepares necessary documentation.
    • Monitors the maintenance of equipment, supplies and facilities.
    • Maintains compliance with all applicable City, County and State laws and City ordinances, policies and procedures at all times.
    • Performs maintenance and custodial duties.
    • Develops and maintains a positive and supportive staff team.
    • Assists with inventory control of parks tools and equipment
    • Mentors new employees
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to:  graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of paid work experience performing grounds maintenance activities, or any combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Experience performing a broad range of horticultural, landscaping, and building maintenance preferred.   REQUIRED LICENSES/TRAINING: Valid Washington driver's license. Must be 18 years of age or older to operate maintenance equipment. Possession of, or the ability to obtain and maintain, a valid basic First Aid and CPR certification card.  Must have a good driving record.
