Job Description
The successful incumbent will perform a variety of cleaning and janitorial tasks maintaining City buildings, offices, restrooms and related facilities in a clean and sanitary manner; complete assignments by verbal or written instructions, and according to established policies and procedures; work independently and part of a team; contribute through knowledge, skills and good work habits.
The starting salary for this position is $17.60 per hour.
This position is part-time and is assigned to day shift, with the following schedule:
Monday - Wednesday 7:15 am to 3:45 pm
Thursday 7:15 am to 12:15 pm
Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors by hand.
Vacuum and spot clean carpets.
Clean, service, sanitize and supply restrooms: toilets, urinals, sinks, fixtures, floors, mirrors, receptacles, counters, trash, etc.
Sweep and mop vinyl and/ or linoleum floors.
Collect trash; empty and clean waste receptacles; take to designated dumping area.
Wash windows, screens, sills, doors, walls and ceilings.
Dust light fixtures, blinds, tables, desks, furniture, sills, shelving, vents and picture frames.
Clean and polish door panels, doorknobs, hand rails, kick plates and drinking fountains.
Load, unload, and distribute supplies to various city buildings.
Clean and sanitize kitchen and lunch rooms: counters, tables, appliances, floors, trash cans.
Move and arrange chairs, tables, appliances, and other furniture for scheduled activities and cleaning.
Observe safe working practices, including maintaining janitorial carts/ closets in a clean and orderly manner.
Work adjusted schedules and/or overtime as required.
Observe and report safety hazards. Maintain a safe working environment. Report unsafe conditions and accidents to supervisor.
Read and follow all label instructions on chemical materials and SDS sheets.
Clean sidewalks, and apply de-icing material in preparation for snow and ice.
Treat all building occupants with courtesy and respect at all times.
Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance; work graveyard and/or weekend hours as assigned, and travel as required.
Meet schedules and deadlines.
Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of paid work experience performing custodial and general building maintenance activities, or any combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Experience performing custodial work preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/ TRAINING:
