    Job Description

    The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds contribute to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Investigations Division currently has an opening for a File Clerk to assist in organizing, maintaining, and cataloging the Investigations Division's closed case files, closed investigations files, and warrant files as well as pick-up and return of property to NYPD.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Perform all Division-related duties as needed or assigned, including but not limited to, updating computer-based tracking systems, record keeping, filing, and document preparation, including completing return of evidence forms to NYPD Property Clerk’s Office

    Perform out of office field tasks including picking up and returning property, and retrieving evidence and documents from governmental agencies and various offices

    Log and file closed cases, warrant cases and investigations

    Update and maintain list of items provided to Operations for closed cases

    Update and maintain a list of closed investigations (JD Investigations) to be kept internally

    Organize and maintain the bench warrant room on the 6th floor of the 198 building

    Label boxes for storage

    Box and label closed cases and investigations

    Organize and maintain storage of property for the Division

    Return evidence to NYPD Property Clerk’s Office

    Perform other clerical tasks and data entry in support of the Division

    All other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    An Associate degree is preferred or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization

    Ability to lift a minimum of 25 Lbs.

    Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to meet deadlines. Exercise discretion and maintain confidential matters.

    Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, OneDrive and Excel.

    Excellent organizational skills.

    Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.

    Excellent people skills.

    Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system.

    Fluency in languages other than English preferred.

    1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
    2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
