    Job Description

    Rebuilding Community Infrastructure (Rebuild) is the City of Philadelphia’s historic $500 million investment in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and libraries. Rebuild will improve public spaces, empower and engage communities, and promote diversity and economic opportunity in the design and construction industries.

    •    Physical improvements: Over the life of Rebuild, the initiative hopes to transform between 150 and 200 Parks and Recreation and Free Library facilities, including parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, libraries, pools and more.
    •    Community engagement and empowerment: Rebuild believes that the voice of the community is vital to the improvement process, from shaping design to determining what changes will best serve the community.
    •    Diversity and economic inclusion: Rebuild’s goal is to serve as a model for diversity and economic inclusion by hiring local, setting and meeting ambitious diversity goals, improving access to the building trades for women and minorities, and creating opportunities small, local businesses to grow.

    Position Description
    Rebuild is looking for an intern who is interested in learning and assisting in the development of one of the most innovative approaches to community building in the country. We are looking for a high energy, creative go-getter with specific attention to quality execution and outcomes. It is essential that applicants for this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity and tenacity while understanding the importance of attending to even the smallest detail.

    This internship will have a variety of responsibilities, which will include a combination of administrative support, research, and self-directed projects in support of Rebuild’s implementation and goals. Responsibilities are likely to include:
    •    Administrative (e.g., data entry, correspondence, filing, etc.)
    •    Data input and analysis
    •    Support of event planning (e.g., outreach, engagement, project user orientation/training)
    •    Best practices research (e.g., design, maintenance, engagement, workforce, small business development, etc.)
    •    Minor writing and/or photography assignments as necessary
    •    Related duties as required

    Interns who complete this internship can expect to gain key insight into the administration of local government, effective program building, and how to conduct data analysis and leverage the results.
