ORGANIZATION SUMMARY Civic Works’ Center for Sustainable Careers (CSC) operates a social enterprise with a workforce development mission to expand access to family-sustaining careers. The enterprise makes services more affordable and easy-to-access for residential customers in the Baltimore area, while simultaneously providing on-the-job training opportunities for participants of CSC’s training programs. Since 2009, Civic Works social enterprise has focused on providing free home energy efficiency services, while preparing trainees for permanent employment in the energy efficiency sector. In 2015 and 2016, CSC replicated the integrated model into the solar industry, expanding its training and service offerings through the launch of the Solar Co-op program and the Solar Installation Training Program. The best solar installation companies in Maryland partner with Civic Works to provide reduced-cost solar systems to residents and to provide solar on-the-job training opportunities. In 2021, Civic Works is poised to expand its program development and launch new business lines in order to further increase accessibility of higher-paying, higher-quality jobs to Baltimore city residents, regardless of background or employment history. With key partners and capital in place, Civic Works is expecting to rapidly expand the capabilities of the social enterprise to provide solar services and solar on-the-job training in 2022, while exploring the feasibility and potential impact of replicating its successful model into other residential construction industries, such as roofing. Civic Works is adding a full-time business development coordinator to ensure that our rapid expansion is guided by strong feasibility research and analysis, an iterative formal process of feedback and improvement, and careful written policies and procedures. For more information regarding our broader work in workforce development, please visit http://sustainablecareers.civicworks.com POSITION SUMMARY The Coordinator will drive the continuous development of Civic Works’ Center for Sustainable Careers (CSC) Energy Programs. This will involve developing new business lines, and creating a client feedback loop to guide program improvements. The Coordinator will also build program capacity by strengthening program policies and procedures, developing supportive systems for operations, and coordinating the hiring and onboarding of new staff. This role will build the program’s long-term sustainability, and continue the program’s expansion into new initiatives through a racial equity and inclusion lens. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator will assess the feasibility of additional business lines, create financial models for business expansion, conduct local market research on employment opportunities, and ensure new business lines support job placement in family-sustaining careers.
The Coordinator will conduct customer discovery, create a feedback loop with Energy Programs clients, design surveys and other data collection methods to obtain feedback, analyze data sets to determine program impact and areas for continuous improvement, and communicate findings back to Energy Programs staff, among other tasks.
The Coordinator will manage the development of internal policies, develop effective processes and systems that support program operations, set consistent standards and practices across Energy Programs, and provide support around On-the-Job Training as needed.
The Coordinator will create written recruitment materials, publish listings on Paycom and other relevant job boards, screen candidates for key competencies, schedule interviews with candidates, conduct first-round phone interviews, and participate in follow-up interviews and conduct reference checks as needed.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Our key program areas include community improvement, workforce development, education, and green programs. We are a non-profit organization that is Baltimore’s urban service corps, a high-impact organization whose work is organized around addressing community needs. Our work changes lives each and every day. Civic Works is an AmeriCorps program. Our AmeriCorps members tutor and mentor students, create community parks and gardens, help homeowners conserve energy, grow food for low-income residents, rehabilitate abandoned houses, involve families in Baltimore City schools, make homes safer for older adults, and recruit volunteers. Civic Works also trains Baltimore residents for employment in the healthcare and green job industries. In addition to the important work that Civic Works does in the community, over the past two years, it has also been engaged in internal efforts to operationalize racial equity as an organizational practice.
