    Job Description

    Job Overview
    Client is currently seeking an onsite full time Civil Design in New Orleans, Louisiana. Experience is required in the use of AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and/or Civil 3D. Applicant should have experience in designing civil/structural components in an oil and gas plant environment; i.e. foundations, pipe supports, and other structures. This position entails providing A/E services for the Department of Energy (DOE) Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset to resolve issues. This position requires applicant to be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain a Federal Government I.D., which is required to access all DOE sites. This position is primarily in VCI’s office in Harahan, LA, with site visits to the SPR’s four storage facilities located in Texas and Louisiana several times a year.

    Required Qualification:
    6 years of experience in heavy industry/oil and gas design.
    Pass a background check required for Federal Government PIV badging.
    Possess a valid driver’s license.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design
    Engineer in Training
    Engineering/Design experience in oil and gas

    Required Responsibilities include:
    Serves as the civil designer responsible for oil and gas design packages.
    Engineering and design of foundations for large equipment with associated access platforms, pipe supports, roads, etc. is the primary function of this position.
    Field verification, condition assessment, and inspections will be conducted as needed to further the design.
    Responsible for the creation of updated record drawings in accordance with National CAD standards using existing drawings and findings of field verification and investigation.
    Reviews plans, specifications and other documents to identify discrepancies, code violations, improper materials or techniques, and substandard or poor-quality workmanship.

    Required Skills
    Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
    Specific knowledge of civil/structural design required.
    General knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security system drawings is highly desirable.
    Must be proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and Bluebeam Software.
    Efficient use of the Microsoft Suite of Services, including SharePoint, Teams, Word, Outlook, and Excel skills.
    Deliver contract requirements in a timely manner.
    Must be able to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, walk long distances, stand for long periods, lift construction materials to access inspections, climb ladders and scaffolding, navigate typical civil construction site obstacles, and drive site provided utility vehicles.
