As an EIT, you will gain hands-on experience across all phases of land development—working closely with senior engineers committed to helping you build your technical foundation, professional judgment, and path toward PE licensure.
Boot Civil is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer / EIT to support the design and delivery of private and public land development projects throughout Central Texas. This position is ideal for early-career engineers who want deep exposure to real design work, mentorship from experienced PEs, and an opportunity to grow within a high-caliber, fast-moving firm.
Support civil design and project execution from due diligence through construction.
Prepare engineering drawings, exhibits, and calculations for grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and site layout.
Assist in preparing engineering reports, technical memos, and permitting documents.
Conduct research on development codes, design criteria, and permitting requirements for Central Texas jurisdictions.
Produce Civil 3D base files, surfaces, profiles, alignments, pipe networks, and construction plan sheets under PE supervision.
Support permitting and approval processes with the City of Austin and surrounding municipalities by preparing submittals and addressing review comments.
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, redline sessions, and QA/QC activities.
Support cost estimates, quantities, and schedule inputs for project managers.
Participate in site visits for existing conditions reviews and construction observations.
Maintain organized project documentation that aligns with Boot Civil's standards and naming conventions.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required).
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and foundational engineering tools used in land development.
Understanding of basic civil engineering principles including hydrology, hydraulics, grading, and utility design.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with PEs, PMs, clients, and permitting agencies.
Desire to learn, take initiative, and grow within a startup environment.
Internship or prior work experience in land development, municipal engineering, or site development.
Hands-on experience with Civil 3D beyond coursework (surfaces, profiles, pipe networks).
Exposure to Central Texas development codes or permitting processes.
Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, etc.).
Interest in sustainable design, infrastructure planning, or emerging land development trends.
