    Position Summary: The Environmental Remediation Group (ERG) is currently seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Remediation Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) (Engineer II or III) in thermal remediation and in situ remediation technologies to join our Environmental Remediation Practice team in the greater Long Beach, CA area. The Remediation Technology SME (Engineer II or III) position is a critical role with rapid growth and career development opportunities within a fast growing organization. This position reports to ERG’s Director(s) of Engineering and Technology. The open position is for a hybrid work location model, and ERG is looking for self-driven applicants with the ability to work from a home office location within the Southern California Area initially, and the potential to a transition to full-time in office work within the greater Long Beach, CA area within the next 12 to 24 months. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to take a lead role in the engineering, design, technical operations support, data management, interpretation, reporting, as well as technical oversight of procurement and construction related activities associated with in situ thermal remediation (ISTR) and other advanced in situ remediation technology projects. This position is for highly motivated individuals, who work well within dynamic project teams, and have strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate highly technical information to wide ranging audiences, including the general public, teaming partners, clients, regulatory agencies, government officials, and other technical and engineering professionals. Position Responsibilities Technical Leadership

    Take leadership role on ISTR and combined in situ remediation system design projects (scoping, conceptual design, scheduling, and financial cost estimating)

    Support remediation technology pilot tests and full-scale applications as engineering/technology subject matter expert during design, construction, operations, helping support project team in the successful achievements of project goals

    Participate in and present at critical project meetings with clients, authorities, regulators, and project stake-holders.

    Oversee quality control and review of design reports, progress reports, and project completion reports.

    Coach and train other staff in the technical/engineering discipline, including systems engineering, automations and programming, thermodynamic and physio-chemical modelling, data acquisition and management, site and operational data interpretation, reporting, and methods for field optimization of heating and extraction systems.

    Engineering

    Lead and Support Remediation System Design, Procurement, Construction, and Operations, as the Project Engineer and Technical Subject Matter Lead.

    Lead and Support Engineering Drawing development for Proposals, Projects, and Reports.

    Oversee the development and implementation of remediation system and project databases, data management systems, and reporting systems.

    Collaborate and contribute to advancements and improvements in ISTR and combined remedy designs, modelling, and implementation methods

    Consult with and make recommendations to professional management team;

    Solve problems of various degrees of complexity

    Technical Sales Support

    Prepare preliminary and conceptual designs and cost estimates by studying site information and related customer documents, including geology and hydrogeology information. Select the best thermal technology and treatment concept based on contaminant type, client schedule and remediation goals.

    Support Technical Sales and Business Development Organization in the presentation of preliminary and conceptual designs to the client

    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending and presenting at educational workshops, conferences and technical webinars.

    Additional Duties

    •Research and Development – participate in technology development driven initiatives such as R&D, Patent preparation and submittal, and support task leaders with data management and interpretation

    Advisor to VP of Technology and Technical/Engineering Directors on technological advances and direction

    Publish peer-reviewed professional publications, conduct webinars and training sessions (internal and external

    Some travel, early start times and occasional night or weekend work will be required.

    Ability to travel domestically within US as well as internationally (<25% of time, with up to two weeks at a time).

    Required Qualifications: Education Required:

    Master’s degree in Engineering or Related fields Required,

    Required Experience and Skills:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the environmental remediation field, with experience as a project level engineer or higher on a minimum of five (5) thermal remediation projects using either Electrical Resistance Heating (ERH) or Thermal Conduction Heating (Electric or Combustion based technologies).

    Minimum of 2+ years working directly for an In Situ Thermal Remediation Vendor

    Highly Proficient in using CAD software systems to develop engineering drawing packages for remediation systems. Experience with Solidworks and 3-D CAD systems is favorable.

    Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, MS Projects,

    Experience in database development and advanced data management systems

    Experience in Thermodynamics

    Experience in Geochemistry, with preference towards experience in physio-chemical modelling

    Strong understanding of subsurface concepts and parameters, with working knowledge of hydrogeology

    Strong technical presentation and writing skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    CA PE license, or CA EIT with ability to obtain PE license within 24-months, is strongly preferred

    Experience with programmable logic controls (PLC), systems automation, and Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems is preferred.

    Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practical application of electrical theory.

    Experience developing advanced numeric models pertaining to thermodynamics, contaminant physiochemistry, and hydrogeology, preference given to candidates who have integrated these into coupled models.

    Experience developing engineering based remediation project cost estimates and financial models

    40-hour HAZWOPER training, including current refresher training is desirable
