  • Responsibilities

    KMJ's client , an engineering firm that specializes in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Monitoring, is seeking a Civil/Highway Department Manager to join their team.

    The Civil/Highway Department Manger will work on a variety of public sector infrastructure projects in the NY/NJ area including bridge, roadway, and aviation projects. Work includes the management of staff, development of business, preparation of design documents for geometric design, roadway design, alignments, maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT), traffic barriers, ITS design, drainage systems, utilities, etc.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and/or review design plans, estimates, technical specifications, details, and other project related documents (alignment, grading, curb ramps, MPT, traffic barriers, drainage systems, utilities etc.).
    • Design/Review construction design documents to ensure effective and safe traffic operations, including evaluation of complex construction phasing plans.
    • Review/Develop conceptual documents and provide design recommendations.
    • Lead technical project meetings.
    • Coordinate with staff from a range of other disciplines (civil, structural, operations) to resolve design issues.
    • Compliance with any applicable federal, state or local regulations, and any company policies and protocols.

    Qualifications Desired

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 8+ years of experience in the civil engineering field
    • Knowledge of FHWA MUTCD, AASHTO, State DOT, NJTA, and other NY/NJ local standards
    • Experience and knowledge of MicroStation.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoTURN.
    • Technical Writing and Report Documentation
    • PE License
    • Uncompromising Integrity
    • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must
    • Have a solid time management system and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • Compensation
    $125,000-$220,000 per year
