    As a Civil Inspector, you will leverage your engineering background to serve as the "eyes and ears" on-site for our major utility clients. We aren't looking for someone to just check boxes; we need a proactive professional who anticipates project bottlenecks before they happen and works independently to ensure infrastructure is built to the highest standards.

    Responsibilities

    Dispatches field crews, troubleshooters and testers engaged in the construction, maintenance and emergency restoration of energy distribution facilities and customer service facilities; assigns work to contractors, reviewing contractor daily reports for accuracy, and resolves issues and approves changes; monitors assigned contract crews for safe, productive and quality work practices

    Ensures that the services provided to the customer meet internal and external regulatory requirements

    Creates and delivers reports on all ongoing construction, quality of work, and scheduled maintenance

    Documents the location of installed facilities on as-built drawings and preparing required supporting documents in accordance with departmental policies and procedures

    Coordinate changes to projects in accordance with contract documents and/or department policies and procedures with both internal and external customers

    Collaboratively tasks projects with contractors and provides technical support to Local and Tech Planning

    Interface with internal personnel and outside agencies; making decisions in the field which may impact the efficiency of field crews and work order closings

    Review, authorize, validate and track assigned work scopes and scope changes at the field level

    Perform contractor field safety assessments. Create and maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow safety protocols and safe work practices

    Ensure warranty corrections are completed, inspecting work for safety and quality

    A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity

    Interface daily with sourced contractor(s), Competitive Bid, and Direct Award contractors to review proposed work scope, validate completed work scope, and approve Field Change Orders in Ariba

    Oversee all civil construction work

    Oversee the administration of contracts and purchase orders in the field

    Perform quality assurance checks of all civil contractors’ work

    Provide technical assistance to Local and Tech Planning Organizations regarding design issues

    Provide functional direction to civil contractors and customer/developer contractors

    Perform a minimum of six Safety Observations per month

    Update work orders (WOs) in ClickSchedule for non-UGC-source work and ensures UGC-source contractor updates WOs in ClickSchedule accurately post-award of work

    Minimum Qualifications

    Five to seven years of experience in quality control/inspection

    Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience evaluating the effectiveness of projects, including monitoring progress, reallocating resources, reporting on status, and implementing changes as needed.

    Experience performing inspections, including providing technical support, identifying compliance issues, and providing corrective recommendations.

    Experience coordinating activities between the Company and contractors, including assigning work, and reviewing field dailies for accuracy.

    Two or more years of experience managing multiple tasks with conflicting schedules and limited timelines.

    Experience with utility underground construction practices, specifications, and requirements, including the Underground Structures (UGS) Manual, GO128 and related industry standards.

    Experience documenting installed facilities locations on as-built drawings and preparing supporting documentation.

    Experience preparing and delivering reports to subordinates, peers, and/or management.

    Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.

    Experience managing risks and safety appropriately and providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
