Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead both technical project execution and departmental operations. This senior leadership role combines hands-on engineering responsibilities with team management, ensuring high-quality project delivery within industrial environments such as chemical, petrochemical, and manufacturing facilities.
Core Responsibilities
Lead and manage the civil/structural engineering department, including staffing, scheduling, and performance management
Serve as Lead Engineer on single and multi-discipline industrial projects
Oversee design and analysis of steel structures, foundations, concrete, masonry, and complex load-bearing systems
Review engineering drawings, calculations, and contractor submissions for compliance with codes and standards
Drive continuous improvement in department procedures, tools, and design practices
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors
Support project execution through cost control, scheduling, and quality assurance
Resolve field design and constructability issues through site visits and technical guidance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
20+ years of industrial experience across sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, polymer, or manufacturing (or 10+ years in consulting)
Strong expertise in structural design, including steel, concrete, and foundations
In-depth knowledge of applicable building codes and standards
Proven leadership and project management experience
Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, STAAD, STAAD Foundation, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
Additional Requirements
Ability to provide professional seal for permitting processes
Willingness to perform fieldwork, including working at heights if required
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (H-1B transfer may be considered)
Willingness to travel and work in a hybrid on-site environment
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening
