    SQL DATABASE SPECIALIST

Since our founding in 1951, the Claims Conference has secured more than $90 billion from the German government in indemnification for Survivors. In 2021, the Claims Conference distributed approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and allocated approximately $640 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. At the Claims Conference, we honor history while making history.

    The Claims Conference is looking for a SQL Database Specialist to join our IT Department in our NYC Office. We are looking for someone who is innovative, proactive, and solution-oriented. The ideal candidate has experience conducting stored routines in SQL, working in cluster databases, and has 2-4 years of working with SQL. Note: this is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days in the office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Creating data models and designing database structures that meet the company’s unique requirements;
    • Designing reports that extract data from multiple sources and present it in an understandable format;
    • Recommending improvements to the database structure or Indexing methods to improve performance;
    • Creating reports based on data analysis findings and recommendations;
    • Establishing guidelines for database design, including database security measures from a design perspective;
    • Designing and implementing database structures that are compatible with existing systems
    • Providing technical support for software applications including troubleshooting bugs or malfunctions;
    • Additional tasks assigned as needed;
    • Acting as backup DB Administrator in providing data input, processing, retrieval, and output services using computer applications such as spreadsheets or database management systems (DBMS). Creating database schemas that are compatible with existing systems.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, economics, statistics, information science, engineering, or related field; MBA a plus;
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience;
    • Strong analytical and programming skills;
    • Detail oriented, methodical, and able to meet deadlines;
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite; Visual Studio
    • Programming experience in SQL, SQL stored routines, C#, R, PHP preferred;
    • Working knowledge of SQl 2012,2016,2019;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Experience in managing users, permissions, and security settings for databases preferred;
    • Experience in writing or rewriting computer programs to automate tasks that humans previously had to perform manually preferred;
    • Experience maintaining and updating existing databases to ensure they remain relevant and accurate preferred;
    • Experience in SQL backup capability and synchronous multi-database setups preferred;
    • Experience in installing and maintaining database software, as well as designing and implementing database structures, and designing, developing, and testing new database applications preferred.

Our target salary range for SQL Data Analyst in the New York City market is $80,000-$95,000. This salary range represents Claims Conference’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
