    Job Description

    Verisk is seeking a Front End Developer who is excited to join our mission-driven team dedicated to improving claims process for our clients. The ideal candidate has strong skills in web development, creating sleek, robust and maintainable front-end interfaces. The candidate is responsible for collaborating with internal UX team to build accessible web applications to improve the daily experience for all users. The candidate is expected to be able to translate our company and customer needs into functional and appealing interactive applications. There will be a need for close coordination with other developers to ensure that the languages written can be adopted and extended across product suites. We expect the candidate to be a tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and aspires to combine usability and accessibility with new interfaces.

    Principal Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

    • Use markup languages like HTML to create user-friendly web pages
    • Thoroughly understand software development methodology to maintain and improve website
    • Optimize applications for performance and reliability across browsers
    • Collaborate with back-end developers and UX designers to improve usability
    • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies
    • Have deep familiarity with the specific challenges and needs of people with disabilities using software to get work done
    • Translate technical specifications, and/or logical and physical design into code for new or enhancement projects at related meetings for internal and external clients
    • Employ contemporary software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that supports automation
    • Provide follow up Production support
    • Thoroughly understand client business functions and technology needs and complies with IT policies and procedures
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Proven 3+ years of work experience as a Front-end developer
    • Hands on experience with markup languages (HTML 5)
    • Working experience with JavaScript, CSS 3 and jQuery
    • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
    • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
    • Experience with modern browser technologies
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn the Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 level A and AA)
    • Knowledge and experience with assistive technology (JAWS, NVDA, WindowEyes, ZoomText, VoiceOver) a plus
    • Understanding of layout aesthetics
    • Knowledge of SEO principles
    • An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent analytical, multitasking and problem solving skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to designers, product owners and stakeholders without any problem as a strong communicator
    • BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field
