    Summary of Position

    Class A Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient operation of commercial motor vehicles to transport food and related products throughout the High Plains region, the top 29 counties of the Texas Panhandle. This position supports High Plains Food Bank’s mission to alleviate hunger and reduce food insecurity by delivering and recovering food donations in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

    Summary of Duties/Responsibilities

    1. Safely deliver food donations to partner agencies, programs, and distribution sites

    2. Load, secure, and unload product using forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks

    3. Pick up food donations from donors and vendors

    4. Ensure receipts and documentation are accurate and submitted

    5. Operate 53’ refrigerated trailers and/or straight trucks

    6. Comply with DOT, food safety, and organizational policies

    7. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections

    8. Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles

    9. Complete all required paperwork and electronic logs

    10. Provide excellent customer service to staff, agencies, donors, and volunteers

    11. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism

    12. Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

    Current DOT Medical Certificate

    Clean driving record and ability to be insured by company vehicle insurance provider

    Minimum 2 years of tractor/trailer driving experience preferred

    Knowledge of DOT, state, and local transportation regulations

    Experience operating 53’ trailers and/or straight trucks, including refrigerated units

    Ability to safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks

    Ability to complete required logs, delivery paperwork

    Strong communication and customer service skills

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance

    Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting to 50 lbs

    Knowledge of warehouse operations, practices, procedures, and standards

    Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.

    Hydraulic equipment experience

    Physical Demands

    Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and grasp regularly

    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

    Ability to push and pull up to 2,000 lbs using a manual pallet jack

    Ability to safely operate electric and manual pallet jacks

    Ability to drive locally for approximately 90% of work time

    Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

    Warehouse Duties

    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment

    Sweep and mop warehouse floors, dock areas, and staging areas as needed

    Remove trash, cardboard, and debris and dispose of materials in designated areas

    Keep loading docks, coolers, freezers, and storage areas clean and free of hazards

    Follow food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines while performing cleaning tasks

    Assist with general warehouse cleanup during downtime or as assigned

    Support warehouse staff in maintaining orderly and sanitary workspaces
