The Class A Transmission Lineman performs construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical transmission systems. This position involves both energized and de-energized work, including advanced live-line methods such as hot stick and bare-hand techniques.
The role requires technical expertise, physical endurance, and an unwavering commitment to safety. Linemen may also lead crews, operate heavy equipment, and represent the company with professionalism in the field.
Construct, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized transmission lines up to 100 kV+.
Perform high-voltage live-line work using hot stick, glove, and bare-hand methods.
Lead and support crew members in the absence of a foreman.
Install poles, anchors, and wire; string and sag lines; perform dead-ending and phasing.
Troubleshoot line issues, reconductor systems, and replace jumpers or insulators.
Read and interpret blueprints, line drawings, and work orders.
Operate heavy line equipment, including digger derricks, pullers, and tensioners.
Climb poles and towers safely; perform rigging, lifting, and material handling tasks.
Conduct daily safety briefings , inspect PPE, and maintain strict adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment for safe, reliable operation.
Execute bucket rescue and emergency procedures when necessary.
5+ years of experience in transmission line construction and maintenance.
CDL license preferred (or ability to obtain CDL permit within 60 days).
Strong understanding of induced voltage, grounding, flag/tagging, and minimum approach distances.
Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, climbing poles/towers, and working at heights in all weather conditions.
Experience performing energized high-voltage work with hot stick and bare-hand methods.
Willingness to travel extensively and work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
