    Position Overview

    The Class A Lineman – Overhead Transmission performs skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution systems. This position involves working on both energized and de-energized lines, ensuring safe, reliable power delivery under a variety of field conditions.

    Experienced linemen may also assume leadership responsibilities , mentoring junior crew members and reinforcing the company's strong safety culture.     Key Responsibilities

    • Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution lines.

    • String wire, set poles and anchors, and install line hardware such as crossarms, insulators, switches, cutouts, and lightning arrestors.

    • Troubleshoot and repair primary and secondary circuits , replace fuses, and phase out lines.

    • Safely climb wood and steel poles/structures , working at significant heights in varying weather conditions.

    • Use appropriate safety gear, PPE, cover-up, and grounding techniques at all times.

    • Mentor and guide less experienced crew members when needed.

    • Conduct pre-job safety briefings and interpret work orders, blueprints, and job plans.

    • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and lifting equipment safely and efficiently.

    • Maintain tools, vehicles, and materials in good working order.

    • Travel to project sites and assist with storm restoration efforts when called upon.

    • Work extended hours, weekends, or on-call as needed during emergencies or weather events.

    Qualifications

    • Several years of overhead line work experience; Journeyman Lineman or Class B Lineman background preferred.

    • High school diploma or GED (technical training a plus).

    • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

    • Strong understanding of voltages, grounding, induced voltage, and protection devices.

    • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working at heights in all weather conditions.

    • Proven commitment to OSHA and utility safety standards , including PPE, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.

    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    • Flexibility to travel or relocate for projects and work extended hours when necessary.

    • Preferred: CPR/First Aid certification, leadership experience, or substation/transmission exposure.

    • Familiarity with utility codes, compliance requirements, and advanced line tools is a plus.
