  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions to produce timely and accurate financial statements.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for ensuring that appropriate accounting functions and associated controls are in place and operating effectively to comply with internal control objectives and financial statement audit requirements. 

    This position will require cross functional efforts with multiple departments and utilize various analytics to maximize returns and enhance procedures, polices and reporting systems. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Oversee the monthly and quarterly close process
    • Plan, develop and implement effective accounting strategies in accordance with evolving regulatory, legal and governmental requirements and industry trends
    • Maintain the integrity of the internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act
    • Develop and monitor effective accounting policies and procedures for the company that evolve with changing accounting regulations and growth by organic means or acquisition
    • Assist with process improvement efforts including streamlining close processes and continuing improvements to Acumatica ERP system
    • Help manage reporting functions, including preparation of financial statements and assistance with internal reporting
    • Serve as a central point of contact for annual audit with external auditors
    • Assist with M&A due diligence and purchase accounting activities as required
    • Remain current with and provide technical accounting support, as needed, in complex accounting areas such ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 lease accounting, ASC 815 accounting for derivatives, as well as purchase accounting & integration of acquisition targets. This includes working with the various departments to implement agreed-upon resolutions for operations and reporting
    • Review work performed by team members to ensure accuracy, identify and resolve issues and ensure compliance with U. S. GAAP and corporate policies
    • Perform ad hoc analyses and make recommendations to improve company profitability
    • Strong ability to communicate complex areas of accounting with business leaders
    • Close hands-on support with Finance partners in developing budgets and forecasts
    • Oversee the preparation of federal and state annual tax planning & review of tax returns
    • Serve as strategic business partner to the CFO and CEO

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in accounting/finance (required) including minimum of 2-3 years of public accounting experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • CPA strongly preferred
    • Experience in both growth start-ups and in public companies is a plus
    • Familiarity with SEC reporting desirable
    • Experience with financial reporting requirements for venture financing preferred

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

    • Must be able to lift to 25 lbs. 

    • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time.

    Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually
