We're looking for a talented Head of Design to be a manager & leader for their nascent Design organization. Our Client is a design-led company that believes in the power of our product to bring simplicity to renting. You are able to switch between strategic, long-term thinking as well as participate and coach in the individual steps of the design process. You’ll be a mentor for our team, to set the bar for design excellence and help us deliver a world-class experience.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage and grow a team of talented product designers
• Set and raise the bar for design excellence by providing feedback to team member projects regularly
• Research, understand and evangelize the needs of our customers (renters, landlords, agents, property managers) to our product and design teams
• Own and drive our design process by evaluating the effectiveness of design activities through a balance of efficiency and problem de-risking
• Build and develop our design team, including defining our hiring and performance rubrics
• Establish the vision/mission/goals for the design team organization
• Influence both company and product strategy through your team's work

What We're Looking For

• Design manager with demonstrated experience in developing design processes and systems
• Ensure teams are delivering high-quality product design work that delivers on our business strategy and mission
• Demonstrated skills in visual and product design and the ability to successfully address both the functional and emotional needs of customers
• Proven ability to coach and mentor designers to grow through project feedback/critiques and performance evaluations
• Working with leaders of other functions (e.g. Product, Engineering, Growth, Marketing) to ensure that teams are collaborating effectively to execute on company strategy
• Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch or Figma (P.S. we’re a Figma shop)
