Job Summary:

• Support with crisis assistance services for families and other individuals in Scott County
• Assist with the daily work of the Clearinghouse, i.e. stocking shelves, pick up donations, assembling boxes of food, record-keeping of the CH
• Build positive working relationships with staff, volunteers and clients
• Treat all Clearinghouse clients with respect and dignity
• Identify areas of need that clients may have and help to address those needs as resources are available.
• Work with community partners to address poverty issues, both individual and systemic

Expected Outcomes:

The assistant will help the Clearinghouse Director and staff to ensure the following outcomes are met:

• A smooth-running Clearinghouse will serve as a distribution point for crisis supplies for individuals in need
• Well-developed systems will be in place for referral and distribution
• A centralized database will be maintained to track referrals and distribution
• Volunteers are well trained and utilized
• Individuals in need will be assisted with immediate needs and referred to other community services to prevent future crises

Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Clearinghouse as a distribution center for food and other goods
2. Track data related to individuals receiving services as well as donors and referrals
3. Recruit, orient and train volunteers, as needed
4. Ensure compliance with regulations for food banks
5. Complete required training for food banks and apply conscientiously
6. Assist with 24-hour coverage, as needed
7. Ensure safety and cleanliness of the Clearinghouse buildings and facilities
8. Be directly responsible to the CH Director.
9. Other duties as assigned by Clearinghouse Director and SCP leadership

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently. Ability to stand, sit, kneel, squat, and reach as necessary to perform the basic tasks of the Clearinghouse.
