    Job Description

    The City of Sunbury is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and service-driven individual to serve as Clerk of Council and Community Affairs Specialist. This full-time position serves as the official record-keeper for City Council and ensures integrity, transparency, and compliance of the legislative process (about two-thirds of job). In addition, this role supports the City’s communication, outreach, and public engagement efforts (about one-third of job).

    Pay Range: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour (pay is based on experience, skills, and qualifications)

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend all regular and special City Council meetings, as well as official Council committee meetings.
    • Prepare, post, and distribute agendas, ordinances, resolutions, minutes, and supporting materials in compliance with applicable laws and local rules.
    • Record, transcribe, maintain, and publish official Council meeting minutes in a timely manner.
    • Manage legislative records, public records requests, and archival systems.
    • Track the legislative process, including readings, amendments, votes, and final adoption of ordinances and resolutions.
    • Support boards and commissions through appointment coordination, recordkeeping, and meeting documentation.
    • Utilize agenda and meeting management technology, including livestreaming and archiving meetings.
    • Assist with City communications, including website updates, social media, and press releases.
    • Ensure the proper execution, certification, authentication, and distribution of official Council actions.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years of administrative experience in a municipal, state, or federal government setting required.
    • Experience as a Clerk of Council preferred.
    • Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation preferred.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Working knowledge of municipal law, public records requirements, and legislative procedures preferred.
