  • Responsibilities

    TITLE: ************INTERVENTIONIST, PART-TIME (READING or MATH)

    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Meets the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications **** including an associate’s degree or 48 hours of college credit or have passed the ParaProfessional Praxis test
    2. Meets the health and physical qualifications
    REPORTS TO

    Principal

    JOB GOAL

    To provide assistance to teachers and help students become proficient in reading and/or mathematics.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    1. Provides small group and/or individual instruction in reading and/or mathematics in grades K-8

    2. Writes lesson plans for small group reading instruction

    3. Delivers lesson plans according to specified techniques

    4. Administers screening and survey-level assessments under the guidance of the Response to Intervention Facilitator

    5. Administers running records under the guidance of the Instructional Facilitator

    6. Keeps accurate records of student work, attendance, and intervention

    7. Works with Response to Intervention Facilitator to monitor student progress

    8. Manages the behavior of a small group of students

    9. Uses personal computers and/or tablets and software applications for determining and monitoring student progress

    10. Attends training as needed

    11. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Principal

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., or the average weight of a child, if assigned to elementary grades, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs., or more. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

    VOCATIONAL PREPARATION

    The required vocation preparation may come from any of the following:

    1. Vocational education

    2. Apprentice training

    3. On-the-job training

    4. Essential experience in other jobs

    4. Form Perception: Ability to make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shading of figures

    5. Manual Dexterity: Ability to move the hands easily and skillfully
