Fix It People is a Chicago-based handyman & home improvement company serving homeowners, property managers, and real estate professionals. We operate in a relationship-driven business where trust, responsiveness, and clarity matter as much as technical accuracy.
We're hiring a Client & Sales Specialist to handle the front end of the business: managing incoming leads, developing quotes, and closing sales. Industry experience isn't required, but we're looking for someone who already brings real initiative — this isn't a role where we can motivate you to want it.
ROLE OVERVIEW
You'll own the day-to-day sales pipeline — responding to inbound leads, scoping and pricing jobs, and following up until they close. You'll work closely with the GM early on to learn our pricing logic and systems, but this isn't a role where you're managed step-by-step indefinitely. The expectation is that you take ownership fast.
This role follows the rhythm of the home services industry: high-volume reactive sales in peak season (Q2–Q3), more room for relationship-building and follow-through discipline in slower months (Q4–Q1). We're looking for someone who can operate in both modes.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage inbound leads via phone, email, and CRM — respond promptly and professionally
Develop clear, accurate scopes of work and quotes in collaboration with the internal team
Follow up consistently to move opportunities toward close
Maintain organized records of leads, quotes, and client communication
As you build fluency, start identifying referral and relationship-based opportunities on your own
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
1+ years in a client-facing, sales, or service-industry role — home services or construction a plus, but not required
Strong typing, written and verbal communication skills
Organized and able to manage multiple open opportunities without things falling through the cracks
Self-directed — comfortable making a judgment call, not waiting for step-by-step instructions
Comfortable with technology and quick to learn new systems
Genuine interest in sales and client relationships
Valid driver's license & ability to attend occasional site visits
WHAT THIS ROLE IS (AND ISN’T)
This role IS:
A real opportunity to own a revenue-generating function and earn based on performance
Client-facing, judgment-driven, and hands-on from day one
A growth path for someone who wants to build toward management over time
This role is NOT:
A stepping-stone role for someone still deciding what they want to do
A passive or scripted sales position
A management or team-oversight role
A cold-call-heavy sales role
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Realistic total compensation for a strong performer: $60,000–$70,000+/year
Performance-Based Commission — earned on deposits personally collected on jobs personally sold
Base Salary: $45,000–$50,000, based on experience
Commission supplement during ramp-up: guaranteed minimum earnings for the first 3 months; commission floors waived for the first 6 months
10 Days Paid Vacation + 5 Days Sick Time (+ 8 Paid Company Holidays)

Hybrid Remote / In-Person Role
