Job Title: Project Estimator
Reports To: President
Department: Estimating Department Chino CA
Location: Chino, CA
Hours: Full Time
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties and Overall Responsibilities include, responsible for estimating work of particular projects. They ESTIMATE work by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. In addition, they ESTIMATE labor, material, and time requirements in order to be able to compute the overall cost of the project.
CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR REQUIREMENTS
· Previous working experience as construction estimator for (3) years
· In-depth knowledge of project management
· Hands on experience with complex data research activities
· Good understanding of data analysis methods and KPIs
· Familiarity with computer programs such as like Timberline or HCSS Heavy Bid
· Good time-management skills
· Ability to multi-task
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Critical-thinker and problem-solver
· BA in engineering, construction science or similar relevant field Not Required if Field Experience exceeds the education time period.
PURCHASING
· Works with Project Manager to ensure good decisions for the company and project
during the buyout process
· Addresses schedule in Subcontractor Scope of Work
· Assists PM in completing project buyout within 30 days of project award
· Assists in preparation of complete subcontract Scope of Work
· Practices good negotiating skills
· Fully reviews drawings & specifications in preparation of subcontractor scope of work
· Understands contract documents and identifies grey areas & gaps in the system
DOCUMENTATION
· Maintains all Bid Documents
· Maintains and updates all Bid forms
· Reviews subcontractors proposals for conformance with bid documents
· Tracks Bid Request For Information process
· Identifies lead times for materials as it relates to Bid process
· Creates Bid Qualifications Documents to clearly identify bid line items to client
· Creates Bid Exclusions Documents to clearly identify bid line items to client
· Pre-qualifies new subcontractors interested in joining our team for conformance and valid experience to work on our projects.
· Sets up and directs Kick Off meeting at project award.
· Provides assistance with active project pricing when requested
· Accurate and timely documentation of project issues
· Maintains project document list
OWNER RELATIONSHIPS
· Proactively thinks about owner issues
· Handles clients’ needs with a sense of Urgency
· Adapts to different clients individual personalities, needs and wants
· Handles misc. owner requests without objection.
· Participates in Owner, Architect Contractor meetings when necessary
· Understands and exceeds client expectations
PROJECT SAFETY
· Prequalifies the safety needs for the project at bid time.
PROJECT SCHEDULE
· Creates project schedule to identify true general conditions periods
TEAMWORK
· Shows respect for duties of other team members.
· Supports and interacts with project PC to perform as a cohesive team.
· Supports and interacts with Field Supervision to perform as a cohesive team.
· Participates in weekly subcontractor meetings
· Reviews project bulletins and identifies scope of work changes
· Coordinates local city permit and utilities company requirements with CCI, related
· subcontractors and owner requirements
· Can identify quality issues in the field and communicate them accordingly
PROJECT CLOSEOUT
· Performs pre-punch list walk thru with PM and Superintendent
· Makes closing out the project a priority
· Enforces contract close-out timeline and notifies subcontractors.
· Works with PC in collecting all close out documents
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPUTER SKILLS:
· To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office
products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Four (4) year degree from an accredited university or college in related field of construction desired but not required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
