The Role:
As an Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a high-horsepower team of engineers to deliver high quality software systems in a truly agile production environment.
You will collaborate closely with the product management team to refine and deliver on the product roadmap while mentoring and coaching engineers. The Technical leaders inspire innovation and creativity by empowering others to do their best work and strive to steward a healthy balance of quality and productivity, while always seeking to iterate on and evangelize the SDLC process. Responsibilities
- Learn and integrate into our culture, processes, and code base (while maintaining and improving all of the above)
- Connect with the team on a professional and personal level, and build respect and trust as a dedicated thought leader
- Take over management responsibility for a team of at least five engineers
- Successfully deliver on multiple projects with a focus on minimizing scope and maintaining quality
- Actively identify and prioritize developer pain points and escalate promptly with proposed solutions
- Provide technical guidance to the team directly and consult with domain experts when necessary
- Drive team stand-ups, sizing, and planning meetings
- Be a trusted mentor and career coach and strengthen team engagement with thoughtful leadership
- Actively recruit and hire talented engineers in collaboration with our internal recruiting team
About you:
- 10+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a technical lead/manager role
- Experience working in high-performance and autonomous teams
- Experience designing and implementing highly scalable applications in AWS or GCP
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related discipline
- Proven track record of delivering on a product roadmap in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders and leadership
- Ability to solicit input, weigh trade-offs, and make hard decisions with deep technical insight
- Strong experience with iterative, agile development, evolutionary design, MVPs, and the "maximize the work not done" philosophy
- Clear, empathetic written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly analytical background; data, process, and results-driven
