    The Company

    Our client is operationalizing the largest Earth-exploration mission in human history. They’re doing that by developing robotics & software to explore, map, and classify the entirety of Earth's ocean floor. The oceans are a critical component of climate stabilization. Our hope is to provide critical subsea data and infrastructure to further understand and predict the fundamental forces that support harmonious human existence on this planet.

    Your Impact

    They’re looking for an early-career software engineer to help design and build the foundation of their subsea data web application, and to play a key role in establishing the early software team. You'll need to be comfortable handling and continuously learning about a very wide range of technical work and a plethora of tools, libraries, languages, and systems. You will be very much an ocean software engineer: motivated by a connection to our oceans, recognizing their vital roles, and finding challenge in the unique demands of ocean data.

    About You

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
    • 4-5 years experience doing challenging software engineering
    • A proven ability to focus and a sense of urgency to mitigate climate change
    • Strong abilities to guide your own learning, and a voracious curiosity
    • An exceptionally healthy work style. You are a good teammate
    • Must have the ability to work in a fluid environment and be self-directed to a degree

    Tech

    • JavaScript/Typescript, React/Redux, Python 3, Node.js, AWS, Familiarity of SQL
    • C and Linux/Unix systems programming is a plus
    • Experience with containerized applications and virtual machines
