    The Climbers Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is designed to develop future leaders of BD's Urology & Critical Care (UCC) business unit by providing associates with exciting, high impact projects in each functional area of product development! It is a 2 ½ year program (Main location: Covington, GA. Required to move at least once for Operations) that includes five six-month rotations in Quality, R&D, Marketing, Operations, and a flexible rotation (Innovation, Regulatory, etc.).

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    QUALITY

    • Create and review Test Methods/Test Method Validations.

    • Create/review Protocols, Process and Product Validations, Stability Protocols.

    • Create and review documents required for Design History File.

    • Participates in Internal and External Audits.

    RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

    • Plan, execute, and document product development activities supporting new or improved products.

    • Develop project management capabilities, collect user feedback or input, and participate in quarterly ideation day contests.

    • Perform tests and experiments in accordance with the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

    MANUFACTURING

    • Leads design transfer activities (e.g., IQ, OQ, PQ) for New Product Development or cost improvement initiatives for Sustaining Engineering.

    • Develops and implements improvements to manufacturing procedures.

    • Required to relocate to a BDI UCC plant for this rotation (Pennsylvania, Arizona/Mexico, South Carolina)

    MARKETING

    • Leads market research planning and execution to collect voice of customer for New Product Development or Sustaining Engineering projects (e.g., interviews, surveys, hospital visits)

    • Develops or updates product labeling for projects and marketing promotional materials for upcoming launches.

    • Supports activities and materials needed for conferences (e.g. National Sales Meeting)

    REGULATORY AFFAIRS (FLEXIBLE ROTATION OPTION)

    • Provide regulatory support for New Product Development or Sustaining Engineering projects (e.g., developing regulatory strategies, timeline development, and reviewing submission related documents)

    • Prepare worldwide submissions, as required.

    • Provide review of product labeling for worldwide regulatory compliance.

    INNOVATION (FLEXIBLE ROTATION OPTION)

    • Execute UCC's early ideation process using a modified Stanford Biodesign methodology to discover and characterize new clinical and business opportunities

    • Lead upstream market research planning and execution to collect voice of customer for projects in the innovation pipeline (e.g. interviews, surveys, hospital visits)

    • Plan and execute activities of quarterly ideation day contest.

    • Partner with internal BD associates and external partners for product prototyping and voice of customer efforts

    GENERAL

    • Provides support for Project Teams and/or Functional Teams as required.

    • Ensures compliance to Department and Business Unit procedures.

    • Represents the Corporation, Business Unit, and Department in a professional manner.

    • Travels as needed.

  • Qualifications

    Education:

    • BS/ MS in Engineering from a 4-year college: preferably Biomedical, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering

    Experience:

    • Prior Co-Op / Internship experience

    • Proven leadership skills

    • Experience working in a team environment

    • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn

    • Geographic flexibility

    • Understands basic applied statistics

    • Understands Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Principles

    • Ability to effectively manage time and multiple assignments

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Office and manufacturing environments

    • May include visits to clinical sites or hospitals.
