    The Gerling Institute is regenerative institute and spine surgery group seeking a Clinical Assistant to serve in this essential role assisting spine surgeons, researchers, NPs, and PAs with patient care and supporting our growing research portfolio with data collection, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities include: Gather patient medical history, patient preparation for the visit, collection of all pre- and post-operative relevant information. Communicate information to physicians and assist with clinical care. Documentation and organization of clinical records on EMR.     Meeting and greeting patients.

    Schedule and coordinate patient appointments to optimize the client satisfaction and facility efficiency.

    Responsible for taking and transferring calls to various departments on a day-to-day basis.

    Potential travel to other offices including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey, on occasion.

    Explain and relay information to patients as required.

    Verify completion of registration forms.

    Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, and taking dictations.

    Request and collect appropriate identification and documents from patients.

    Use PrognoCIS (EMR) system to create accounts, post payments, schedule appointments, and make notes.

    Act in accordance with HIPAA laws regarding sharing of patient’s medical information.

    Manage the waiting room, attend to patient needs, and ensure the schedule runs on time.

    Complete no-show report after in-person sessions.

    Collect copayments from patients in various forms (cash, card, or check).

    Required Qualifications:

    Good interpersonal and computer skills

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    The Clinical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the Physicians and Advanced practitioners in the care and management of a patient's spine disorder by recording the patient’s history including but not limited to mechanism of action, past medical, past surgical history, pulling up relevant imaging (MRI, CT, XRAYS, etc),

    Clinical Assistant - Duties and Responsibilities

    Understand the anatomy, physiology, pathology, and treatments

    Update Electronic Medical Record (EMR), pull up imaging and preparing the patient to the Doctor or Advanced Provider that is in session

    Respond to emails and Klara messages in a timely manner

    Answers phone calls from patients, attorneys, imaging centers, and other doctor’s offices

    Medical office: 1-2 years (Preferred)

    Computer skills: 2 years (Preferred)

    Customer service: 2 years (Preferred)

    Experience in PT/Chiro/Orthopedic Surgery (Preferred)

    Qualifications

    Travel to offices located within New Jersey REQUIRED, with occasional travel to NYC location, as needed. FIRST 4 WEEKS OF TRAINING REQUIRED IN THE NYC LOCATIONS.

    Must be able to work within the United States.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent writing and communication skills

    Organized, efficient, reliable, and attentive to detail, with an ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines

    Knows limitations and can approach supervisors if questions or obstacles arise with responsibilities and tasks.

    Education:

    Bachelor of Arts/Science (PREFERRED)

    Language:

    English (Required)

    Spanish (ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED, NO NON-SPANISH SPEAKERS SHOULD APPLY)
