    Who We Are

Citizen Health was founded on the belief - shaped by firsthand lived experiences navigating healthcare - that having the right advocate is the single most important factor in achieving better care and outcomes. By uniquely combining data, AI, and community, Citizen is building a personalized AI advocate powered by patients' complete medical histories and data from thousands of other patients to generate personalized insights for clinical decisions and day-to-day challenges. Starting in rare and complex conditions, patients share their data in exchange for value, enabling biopharma and researchers with seamless access to patients and regulatory-grade data, shaving years off drug development for much-needed treatments.

Citizen is founded by experienced entrepreneurs with multiple successes under their belts and is funded by top-tier investors including 8VC, Transformation Capital, and Headline Ventures, among others. We are a mission-driven team excited to be building the future of consumer healthcare.

    The Role

As a Clinical Data Abstractor, you will leverage your clinical expertise to transform complex patient medical records into valuable longitudinal data that drives our rare disease research forward. You'll work closely with our clinical teams to ensure the highest quality abstraction of patient information while developing mastery of our disease models, ontology, and proprietary systems. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on working with complex clinical information and is passionate about making an outsized impact in rare disease.

    Responsibilities

    • Abstract and review relevant longitudinal information from patient medical records with exceptional accuracy and efficiency, maintaining the highest quality standards.
    • Develop deep expertise in our proprietary disease model, ontology, and internal annotation tools to maximize productivity and data quality.
    • Support quality assurance initiatives, pilot annotation projects, and guidance and training material development to continuously improve our processes and team capabilities.
    • Work collaboratively within the clinical annotation team to maintain consistency in data extraction approaches and ensure delivery commitments are met for all research partners.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and a collaborative mindset when adapting to new content areas and evolving project requirements, embracing learning opportunities.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to platform enhancement through testing, feedback, and issue reporting.

    Who You Are

You are an experienced healthcare professional with a clinical background in rare genetic disorders, neurology, cardiology, or metabolic disorders who excels at high-volume, detail-oriented work. As a licensed nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or genetic counselor, you bring both clinical expertise and a focus on efficiency to data abstraction challenges. You thrive in fast-paced environments where accuracy and speed are equally important, and you're motivated by the opportunity to process large volumes of clinical data that directly advances rare disease research.

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience providing clinical care for patients with rare genetic disorders, with preference for pediatric neurologic, metabolic, and cardiovascular conditions.
    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Genetic Counselor in good standing.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
    • Experience in healthcare data annotation, chart reviews, or research data entry is a plus.
    • Proven expertise in data privacy regulations (HIPAA) and data security best practices.
    • Proficiency in technology and software tools for data analysis, with demonstrated ability to adapt to new platforms quickly.
    • Growth mindset with exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work in fast-paced environments.
