Summary/Objective CAN is seeking a compassionate and competent leader to provide a full range of direct professional and clinical social services to all shelter residents. This position will supervise the Case Managers and Social Workers at the Westside Men’s Shelter and provide direction and oversight for case management services at the shelters.
Essential Duties
Investigates, evaluates, and monitors individual cases. Assists in developing individual service plans designed to prevent or alleviate personal or environmental problems of clients in a social services, health, or mental health program. Determines suitability of individuals for special programs. Provides crisis prevention and intervention services. Develops and/or participates in public awareness and education programs.
Interprets policy and procedures of social services programs. Assists in policy formation and assures that services assigned are carried out effectively by the case managers. Coordinates one or more activities within a program.
Consults with other health or social work professionals concerning problems affecting recovery, welfare, and rehabilitation of patients/clients.
Acts as a liaison between health, education, welfare, and other community agencies to establish an integrated and coordinated program.
Prepares case histories and other reports, memos, and correspondence. Maintains accurate records of resident activities. Facilitates, attends, and participates in meetings and conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of social work and human behavior. Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and management of social, emotional, and mental dysfunctions. Knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems. Knowledge of individual, family, and group therapy dynamics and techniques. Knowledge of social work programs, and program evaluation methods. Knowledge of alternate and additional resources for clients/patients.
Skill in applying social work theories and principles to individuals in a social work program. Skill in the development of effective treatment or service programs for individuals and their families and in providing crisis intervention. Skill in interpreting and applying Federal, State, and local guidelines, regulations, and procedures. Skill in establishing rapport with clients/patients. Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with all contacts. Ability to assist in the evaluation of programs and services. Ability to instruct and to set standards for case managers, assigned programs and services. Ability to review and coordinate the work of others.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Certified Social Worker, is required at the time of application, or in progress. Possession of a valid license Maryland driver's license and reliable transportation.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a Full-Time position. Schedule to be discussed with Supervisor.
Travel Some travel is expected.
