Clinical Laboratory Team Lead
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 + $4,000 Shift Differential + Bonus Potential
About the Role:
A leading molecular diagnostics laboratory is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Team Lead to oversee daily operations and support a team of laboratory professionals performing high-complexity testing. This role combines hands-on laboratory work, team leadership, quality oversight, and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
The Team Lead will act as a technical resource and liaison between laboratory staff and management, ensuring workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality diagnostic testing. This position is ideal for experienced Medical Technologists, Clinical Laboratory Scientists, or Lead Technologists looking to step into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support daily operations of a high-complexity clinical laboratory.
Supervise and mentor a team of 8–16 laboratory professionals.
Perform and review clinical laboratory testing and assay analysis.
Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and laboratory quality standards.
Troubleshoot laboratory processes, equipment, and workflow while supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or related scientific discipline
3–5+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
Experience working in high complexity clinical laboratory environments
Experience with CLIA and CAP regulatory standards
Experience performing quality control analysis and assay troubleshooting
Experience using LIMS systems and laboratory data analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
Experience as a Lead Medical Technologist, Senior Technologist, or Laboratory Lead
Experience preparing for CAP inspections
Experience mentoring or training laboratory staff
Experience with molecular diagnostics or proteomics testing
ASCP certification or equivalent
