Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a licensed Clinical Psychologist to support the Biographical Evaluation and Screening of Trainees (BEST) and Behavioral Analysis Services (BAS) Programs at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland Military Treatment Facility. The Clinical Psychologist will provide psychological evaluation, treatment, and consultation services in a military healthcare setting. This includes diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and participation in structured programs evaluating new recruits and service members.
General Duties:
Provide behavioral health services under day-to-day supervision comparable to government healthcare staff.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics as per APA and MTF guidelines.
Practice within limits of state licensure and MTF privileges.
Specific Duties:
Conduct psychological evaluations using interviews, psychological testing, and collateral data.
Diagnose mental health disorders per DSM guidelines.
Provide psychological therapy to individuals and groups.
Provide consultative services to Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and leadership.
Document clinical encounters, evaluations, and treatment plans in EHR.
Perform assessments under the BEST program, including:
Administering the Lackland Behavioral Questionnaire (LBQ)
Reviewing mental health history indicators
Conducting Phase II and Phase III evaluations as needed
Supervising technicians performing brief assessments
Ensuring patient safety and proper trainee placement
Provide expert consultation to leadership regarding trends and risks related to behavioral data.
Qualifications:
Degree: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
Education: Completion of APA-accredited internship/residency in professional psychology.
Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support); no board certification required.
Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in psychological testing, diagnostic interviewing, and counseling.
Ability to work in a structured, high-compliance environment.
Experience with military or structured government mental health programs preferred.
Strong written documentation and EHR skills.
Supervisory ability over behavioral health technicians.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 0730–1630
9-hour shift with 1 unpaid lunch hour
No nights, weekends, or on-call
Work Environment:
Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
Personal Services Arrangement (HCW supervised like federal staff)
No telework permitted
PPE provided by the Government
Health & Immunization Requirements:
TB Screening (initial and annual)
Annual Influenza
Tdap (if not received in last 10 years)
Hepatitis B (required for patient-facing roles)
MMR, Varicella, HIV screening as applicable
Security Requirements:
Must pass background check
Credentialing package due 30 days before placement
No DEA registration required
