AFC Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Clinical Scribe/Medical Assistant to support our providers and patient-care team in a busy urgent care environment.

This hybrid role combines hands-on Medical Assistant responsibilities with real-time clinical documentation in Experity. The ideal candidate can anticipate a provider’s needs, document accurately while care is being delivered, and help keep patients moving efficiently from arrival through discharge.

This is a genuinely fast-paced clinic. We need someone who works with urgency, stays composed under pressure, and maintains accuracy and compassion, especially during our busiest shifts.

    What You’ll Do

    Clinical Scribing and Documentation

Accompany providers during patient encounters and document visits in Experity in real time

Accurately capture the history of present illness, review of systems, examination findings, procedures, treatments and other information as directed by the provider

Prepare charts for provider review and completion

Enter diagnoses, orders, prescriptions, referrals and discharge information only as directed by the provider and within the scope of the position

Track pending laboratory and imaging results and promptly alert the provider when results are available

Help providers maintain complete, timely and accurate documentation throughout the shift

Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and documentation standards

    Medical Assistant Responsibilities

Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists and reasons for visit

Assist providers with examinations, procedures and treatments

Perform point-of-care testing, including strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis and other in-house testing

Draw blood and prepare specimens for in-house and reference laboratory processing

Administer medications and injections according to provider orders and clinic protocols

Perform drug screens, physicals and occupational-medicine services

Prepare and clean exam rooms, sterilize instruments and maintain clinical supplies

Provide discharge instructions and reinforce provider-directed follow-up plans

Respond to patient calls, laboratory messages and follow-up needs

Step into other clinical responsibilities when necessary to maintain efficient patient flow

    What We’re Looking For

Previous experience using Experity EMR is strongly preferred

Previous medical scribe or real-time clinical documentation experience

At least one year of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine or another high-volume outpatient setting preferred

    Medical Assistant certification

Proficiency in medical terminology, clinical documentation and electronic medical records

Strong typing skills with the ability to listen, organize information and document accurately in real time

Comfortable performing phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and laboratory work

Ability to move quickly between documentation and hands-on patient-care responsibilities

Excellent attention to detail, communication and organizational skills

Dependable, adaptable and willing to support the team wherever needed

Ability to remain calm, professional and patient-focused during high-volume periods

    Why Join AFC Urgent Care?
