    Location: Washington, DC Schedule: 4x12-hour night shifts Contract Type: Contract Pay Rate: $80/hour

    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated Emergency Room Clinical Supervisor (RN) for a night shift leadership opportunity in Washington, DC. The Clinical Supervisor will oversee daily clinical operations within a fast-paced Emergency Department, providing direct leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff while ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and satisfaction.

    The ideal candidate will be a confident, collaborative leader with strong decision-making skills, extensive clinical expertise in emergency care, and the ability to manage both patient flow and team dynamics effectively.

    Candidates must be able to start within 2–3 weeks of offer and possess prior nursing leadership experience.

    Responsibilities

    Provide clinical and operational leadership to ER staff during assigned shifts.

    Coordinate and oversee patient care delivery to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

    Support and mentor nurses in the management of complex emergency and trauma cases.

    Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to maintain optimal department flow.

    Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

    Assist with staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation as needed.

    Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing hands-on clinical support when required.

    Department Overview

    The Emergency Department is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment caring for a wide range of patients, including urgent care, psychiatric, pediatric, and trauma/critical care cases. ER nurses regularly perform advanced clinical tasks such as:

    Medication titrations

    Arterial line management

    Chest tube care

    Massive blood transfusions

    Qualifications

    Required Certifications:

    Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

    Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

    Licensure:

    Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC

    Experience:

    Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience

    Leadership or supervisory experience required

    Cerner EMR experience required

    Education:

    Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required

    BSN – Highly desired
