Scope of Work
The Clinical Supervisor oversees the clinical operations of assigned mental health programs, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational expectations. This includes supervising staff, maintaining documentation quality, and supporting efficient clinical workflows.
Program Oversight & Compliance
• Review client files and charts to ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timeframes • Discharge charts once documentation is verified as complete and compliant • Notify the responsible QMHP or LMHP when documentation is incomplete or incorrect and ensure timely correction • Ensure documentation practices meet DBHDS and DMAS regulatory requirements • Participate in audits, site reviews, and corrective action activities as required
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
• Provide clinical supervision for QMHPs and LMHPs in accordance with licensure and supervision requirements • Ensure supervision hours are completed and documented appropriately • Train and guide staff on assessment quality, diagnostic formulation, and documentation standards • Support ongoing clinical development and performance improvement
Core Responsibilities • Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and oversight of assigned mental health programs • Conduct and review mental health assessments as needed to support program operations • Review and approve Service Authorization Requests (SARs) prior to submission to Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), as applicable • Ensure authorization requests are accurate and submitted within required timelines • Collaborate with clinical leadership to maintain effective clinical workflows • Assist with ensuring appropriate clinical staffing coverage for assigned programs • Coordinate with Human Resources on performance management and disciplinary matters as needed
Minimum Qualifications
• Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) or LMHP-Resident under supervision • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field • Experience in community mental health, crisis services, or similar behavioral health programs • Working knowledge of DBHDS licensing standards and DMAS Medicaid requirements This document outlines general expectations for the Clinical Director role and may be applied across multiple mental health programs.
