    ABOUT US:

Cloud Agronomics is an AgTech startup applying remote sensing and novel analytics to power the next wave of actionable, real-time farm management insights. Backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Cloud Agronomics is changing the way the agriculture industry makes decisions. We're looking for a talented, motivated Sensing Package Mechanical Engineer to design and build the multi-sensor package that will collect the proprietary data that powers our business.

Right now, farmers spend millions of dollars on agronomy solutions, yet over 20% of the food they plant never makes it to harvest. Globally, this amounts to a $440 billion annual loss and means that critical resources like land, water, and fertilizer are often overused. At Cloud Agronomics, we're using recent advances in broadband spectral imaging technology to generate insights with a precision never before seen. The insights we generate have substantial real-world impact: help increase food production, reduce resource use, and combat climate change.

An ideal candidate for the Sensing Package Mechanical Engineer role should have practical experience, a love of experimentation, and a passion for the problem we are trying to solve. You will have the autonomy to devise and implement your design from the ground up and collaborate with Cloud Ag's engineering, analytics, and leadership teams in an agile development environment.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Lead and own the design, documentation, and implementation of a cutting-edge airborne sensing package. The package will consist of a multitude of sensors, including GPS, IMU, lab-grade optical components, passive and active vibration isolation components, and much more.
    • Actively work with the Product and Analytics teams to develop and manage objectives and requirements.

    ABOUT YOU:

    • You're an incredibly gifted problem solver and have experience with (or knowledge of) the hardware development process.

    • You have extensive experience with CAD design software.

    • You're adaptable, driven, and have at least a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

    • You're self-motivated and love to build new things from the ground up.

    • You're a team-player that will work with others at Cloud Agronomics to define prototyping scope and product deliverables.

    PLUSES:

    • Experience integrating vibration isolation and motion stabilization hardware.
    • Experience working with optical sensors.
    • Experience using and managing JIRA, Confluence, Notion, and Figma.

    JOB PERKS:

    • Competitive compensation.
    • Flexible hours.
    • Work autonomously as a product and research owner within a fast-paced and talented team.
    • Your work will contribute to climate change mitigation and sustainable food production.
