Job Description:
The Cloud Solutions Architect is a key role responsible for guiding the State of Arizona’s Agency Support Division (ASD) through the cloud migration process. Working closely with project managers, business analysts, stakeholders, and developers, this role involves researching, designing, implementing, and overseeing cloud migration projects. The architect will also be responsible for post-migration activities and ensuring that solutions are successfully integrated into the cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead cloud migration efforts, guiding the agency through the complex process of migrating existing applications and infrastructure to public cloud platforms.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deploy cloud architectures that align with organizational goals.
Oversee the planning, execution, and post-migration stages of cloud solutions.
Develop and implement cloud migration strategies, ensuring optimal performance and security throughout the transition.
Provide guidance on the selection of appropriate cloud services and solutions based on the agency's needs.
Design cloud infrastructure, and help implement automation and DevOps solutions using platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Provide leadership on cloud-related projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Current Certification in Public Cloud Architectures (choose one):
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect
Azure Solutions Architect
Education & Experience:
Relevant degree (e.g., Bachelor’s Degree) or equivalent combination of training, coursework, and work experience.
At least 9 years of experience with AWS infrastructure services (architecture, administration, operations).
At least 8 years of IT implementation experience.
At least 5 years of cloud solutions experience, including architecting and deploying applications and platforms to the public cloud.
Knowledge & Skills:
In-depth knowledge of public cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their service offerings.
Strong understanding of cloud migration strategies and application modernization.
Familiarity with project management principles, including scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, and risk management.
Proficiency in cloud computing platforms and scripting languages such as GCP, AWS, Azure, Terraform, DevOps, Git, Kubernetes.
Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Abilities:
Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and clearance processes, including Arizona tax compliance and FBI fingerprint clearance.
Ability to work autonomously, while also collaborating effectively within teams to lead cloud migration projects.
Ability to design, develop, and write technical documentation such as project plans, proposals, and policies.
Ability to analyze and propose cloud migration solutions based on both strategic and tactical needs.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to emerging technologies.
