    This is a part-time salaried, exempt field position. This position may require early mornings (5:30/6:30am) and/or evening hours (after 5:00 p.m.) as class needs warrant and schedules are set for those classes for which any given instructor holds appropriate certification to teach. Group fitness instructors are expected to teach classes per week/or classes per month.

    OVERVIEW:

    The Group Fitness Instructor plans, instructs, and leads members participating in group fitness programs; ensures the proper maintenance of fitness center exercise and audio equipment; demonstrates proper exercise techniques; assists members by answering questions about Club4Fitness and promotes repeat attendance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or ability required.

    Prepares choreography and instructs members in various level of group fitness techniques; provides feedback to participants regarding their performance level.

    Maintains order and control over members participating in group fitness activities.

    Obtains, maintains, and secures fitness and audio equipment in compliance with acceptable standards to ensure the long life of equipment.

    Protects the Club4Fitness interests by observing and preventing potentials for liabilities due to injuries; ensures the safety of all participants.

    Ensures members submit printed ticket for each class attended to document class attendance and appropriate membership type.

    Provides excellent and courteous customer service to members; maintains awareness of and promotes all group fitness activities; encourages continuous attendance.

    Promotes an engaging and welcoming environment to all employees, members and visitors

    Responsible for ensuring that all studios are clean and organized and all Group Exercise equipment is properly maintained

    Participates in the launch and on-going performance of new procedures, programs, training and certifications within the arena of Group Exercise, including Spin/indoor cycling activities

    Teaches a minimum of 3 classes per week on the schedule

    Attend group exercise meetings as assigned by the VP – Personal Training & Fitness Programming or Managing Partner or the Group Fitness Manager of any region or Club

    Performs all other related work as assigned

    Of special note: All department directors, personal trainers, and group exercise instructors assigned to the respective club report directly to the General Manager when on-site at any Club4 facility.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

    The position reports directly to the assigned Group Fitness Manager.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Knowledge, skills & abilities:

    Hard working, goal oriented, enthusiastic, and energetic.

    Solid work ethic with strong decision-making skills

    Self-starter who takes initiative with minimal direction and supervision

    Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry

    Solid supervisory, diplomacy and listening skills

    Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism

    1. Minimum certifications/education/experience level:

    One (1) year of previous experience leading specific group fitness programming as instructor

    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required

    Certification relevant to fitness class being taught (e.g. Les Mills certifications)

    CPR/AED Certification

    First Aide Certification

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under pressure

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; climbing, stretching, frequent light lifting of books, boxes; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds; frequent use of computer and repetitive hand motions

    Regulated air temperature and humidity in gym facilities and office environment, however, temperatures and humidity may be elevated while group and personal exercise activities are being performed

    Regular standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and other physical activity are required while performing the duties of the role

    Sitting, close reading, and typing are required while performing the duties of the role

    Noise level is generally low but may be louder and more intense in gym facilities

    Frequent overnight travel will be required, as described above

    Hours are generally traditional business hours but may, at times, extend to long or late hours to accommodate the different time zones of club facilities as well as to address projects, events, openings, launches of new programming, and other matters involving social media.

    The pace is heightened as the nature of the work is high-energy fitness activities and instruction
