🧩 Position Summary
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support our classroom team. In this role, you will assist the Head Teacher with planning and implementing both whole-group and small-group instruction.
You will work closely with children, staff, and leadership to help create an engaging, safe, and enriching learning environment.
📝 Key Responsibilities
Tutor and assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts
Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and gross motor spaces
Provide additional support to students with special needs
Observe student performance and document relevant information to track progress
Support the development of social skills and positive behavior
🎓 Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to pass state and federal background checks
One year of teaching assistant experience preferred, but not required
High energy and a genuine love for working with children
Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
Physical Requirements (Essential Job Functions)
To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to:
Lift, carry, and hold children weighing up to 40–50 pounds
Bend, kneel, squat, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods throughout the day
Move quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of children in both indoor and outdoor environments
See, hear, and respond promptly to children, alarms, and emergency situations
Push, pull, and maneuver strollers, cribs, classroom furniture, and playground equipment
Participate in indoor and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions
Perform repetitive tasks such as diapering, cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing materials
Maintain active supervision of multiple children at all times
Communicate clearly and effectively with children, families, and staff
Mental & Emotional Requirements (Essential Job Functions)
This role requires the ability to:
Remain calm, patient, and composed in a fast-paced environment
Manage stress and balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Respond appropriately and professionally to challenging behaviors
Maintain focus and continuous supervision of children throughout the day
Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and coworkers
Accept feedback, coaching, and guidance, and consistently follow policies and procedures
