WORK HOURS: 40-60 hrs/week; flexible schedule JOB PURPOSE: The Motor Grader Operator will be responsible for grade excavation and embankment and lay base and other materials. The Motor Grader Operator may blade haul roads as well as other general work. In addition to the rough work responsibilities, the Motor Grade Operator will also perform finish grade work to blue tops or other pad sites.

JOB DUTIES:

• Inspect equipment daily for defective parts and check fluid levels before starting. Notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication and team work skills are necessary as proper completion of an assigned job and working safe will be highly dependent upon this ability.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operating and /or safety manuals, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to apply common sense in understanding and carrying out written and oral instructions.
• Attention to deadlines and finishes assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality.
• Maintain proper required paperwork (labor/equipment).
• Will report to Facilities Manager.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of construction practices.
• Knowledge of grade control systems.
• Knowledge of routine machine maintenance is preferred.
• Road maintenance preferred.
• Ability to operate multiple heavy machines is a plus.
• Knowledge of some Spanish is a plus.
• CDL is preferred, but not required.
