    The University of Montana invites applications for an Associate Director of Financial Aid Systems in Financial Aid.  Under the guidance of the director, the Associate Director provides strategic direction and administration of student financial aid programs through the effective implementation, development, and management of software. This position requires knowledge of and ability to interpret the complex financial aid rules, regulations, and applications of the Federal Department of Education and the State of Montana. The Associate Director applies systems analysis and project management tools and techniques in managing multiple projects.  This position serves as the technical lead for the office. It develops and implements related policies and procedures and will continually analyze current processes and student populations to further institutional, divisional and departmental goals such as recruitment and retention. The Associate Director also counsels students, parents, and the general public regarding financial aid requirements and processes. This position must have the ability to travel and shares the responsibility for the Financial Aid Office with the Associate Director of Customer Care in the absence of the Director.

    POSITION DETAILS

    • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, (select one) MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
    • Salary for this position is $55,000 - $70,000 annually commensurate with qualifications.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate complex policies to clientele and staff
    • Strong mathematical/accounting skills and have great attention to detail
    • Ability to adjust quickly to changing job demands
    • Ability to maintain and test Banner Financial Aid Module validation tables, rule forms and job submission parameters
    • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze data effectively and provide informed solutions to improve office workflow and influence change
    • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with other team members
    • Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to learn and become proficient using multiple software/database applications
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Title IV regulations
    • Demonstrated leadership, analytical and organizational skills
    • Possess a steadfast commitment to diversity, maintaining an inclusive institutional environment
    • Must be able to be granted access to federal aid databases, meaning cannot be in default on any federal loans

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with maintenance of Banner Suite, primarily the Financial Aid Module
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Supervisory Experience
    • Five (5) years of experience in financial aid administration with a demonstrated progression of responsibility.
