    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    IAP is seeking a Team Lead based out of San Diego, CA to lead a Diesel Readiness Assist Team providing timely direct support services tailored to the needs of ships to enhance the ship’s organic proficiency and capabilities by way of training to improve material readiness through all events in a ship’s operational cycle.

                   

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (not limited to duties as described – performs related duties as requested)

    THE DIESEL SYSTEMS TEAM LEAD SHALL:

    • Have general knowledge and provide technical direction and oversight of approximately 7 subject matter experts in the following classifications/disciplines/trades: Diesel Engine Inspector, Damage Control, Electrical Systems, Auxiliaries Systems, Ship Self Defense Systems (SSDS), Deck Operations and Systems, 3-M, and Logistics.
    • Provide best recommendations to keep a warship ready for combat.
    • Provide candid guidance to their team and to the ship’s crew for expanding the ship’s crew’s knowledge with insightful methodology.
    • Compile and provide to the Program Manager ship visit reports and performance assessments.
    • Effectively communicate progress, assessment, and recommendations with ship senior leadership.
    • Create and execute training plans tailored to the needs of the ship.
    • Ensure proper and safe conduct of preventive maintenance, operational checks, or special test procedures on any equipment.
    • Perform safety “walk throughs” as a precursor to equipment operation.
    • Develop executable material inspection Sequence of Events and Execution Plan.
    • Ensure proper conduct of material inspections to include effective identification, documentation, and correction of deficiencies.
    • Review of administrative programs supporting readiness requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety, occupational health, and environment protection standards.
    • Properly upkeep material history files to support maintenance requirements.
    • Develop, conduct, and support other training evolution requirements for ship’s force as necessary.

              

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (or equivalent)

    • Under-graduate or associate’s degree or extensive demonstrated experience in a management role.
    • Over 25 years of supervisory experience in analyses, information system operations, and implementation of technical projects.
    • Supervisory main propulsion experience with Navy surface ship maintenance processes.
    • Subject Matter Expert in Diesel Main Propulsion and Control Systems.
    • Extensive experience as shipboard Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) on multiple ships.
    • Extensive experience in Navy Ship main propulsion engineering on multiple ships.
    • Maintenance/training staff experience (e.g. Immediate Superior In Charge (ISIC), Type Commander (TYCOM), or Afloat Training Group).
    • Maintenance Staff experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of Navy ship depot level maintenance processes.
    • In-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes.

     

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    • Broad experience in shipboard systems and material condition assessment.
    • Able to effectively communicate and manage team of approximately 7 subject matter experts.
    • Possess the depth and breadth of experience to provide best recommendations to keep a warship ready for combat.
    • In-depth knowledge of Navy ship depot level maintenance processes.
    • In-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes.
