    ARES seeks a Reliability Engineer/Manager to support Goddard Space Flight Center projects in Greenbelt, MD. The chosen candidate must possess the ability to work professionally as a NASA representative, lead a group of reliability engineers, and successfully foster a positive relationship with our internal and external customers. This is a fast-paced environment that requires an outgoing and positive attitude and the ability to handle multiple priority tasks. The successful applicant must possess innate motivation and communication skills. If selected, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our teammates at NASA and within our close-knit community. ARES offers competitive benefits and compensation. The chosen candidate will have a daily scope to include the following duties:

    • Provides effective strategic and tactical leadership of a team of ten to fifteen engineering professionals responsible for providing reliability support for approximately fifteen NASA projects, which include satellites and/or their instruments, ground segments and special reliability studies.
    • Supports, direct and manage engineering personnel as required to maintain high engineering standards and project efficiencies
    • Interfaces with management regularly keeping them informed of task status as well as new tasks.
    • Works with customer representatives regularly with updates on work progress and new business development.
    • Prepares product reliability, maintainability and availability (RMA) program plans and establishes requirements for and monitors RMA programs.
    • Participates in system requirements and design teams, establishes reliability models, and uses the models for systems and subsystem analysis.
    • Performs and/or reviews reliability analysis; develops reliability trade-off studies; assesses the system assembly performance with respect to requirements; evaluates the effectiveness of the failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system elements; and prepares reports.

     

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

    Build and maintain strong interpersonal relationship and customer interfacing skills are required.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Spacecraft their payloads and Ground Systems Experience with the following on NASA projects: • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA) • Reliability Prediction • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA)
    • Parts Stress Analysis (PSA)
    • Worst Case Analysis (WCA)
    • Software Reliability
    • System Safety
    • Relex, SAPHIRE, Raptor, iQRAS, Windchill, Reliasoft

     

    Required Experience

    In order to be considered for this position, you must have:

    • BS in Engineering

    • At least 10 or more years of directly years relevant experience.
