This includes a shift to remote working for the majority of our lawyers and staff.  The Paralegal II will likely start remotely while the firm continues to evaluate the situation.  The Paralegal II – Real Estate will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Paralegal II – Real Estate at Latham, you will be responsible for assisting in various stages of diligencing and closing commercial real estate transactions (financings, acquisitions, sales, and joint venture transactions) for a client base which includes lenders, real estate companies, and investors while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

    • Managing the review and negotiation of title insurance materials, surveys, zoning reports, flood determinations and other due diligence items, as well as coordinating with diligence service providers
    • Preparing and maintaining transaction checklists
    • Preparing closing documents and files under the supervision of attorneys and maintaining closing files
    • Following up on post-closing matters
    • Coordinating and arranging regularly scheduled meetings for the New York Real Estate practice group and Real Estate practice groups of other U.S.-based offices

    As a Paralegal II – Real Estate, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Paralegal II – Real Estate must have proficient knowledge of applications typically used in a legal office environment, such as Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.  Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills are desired, as well as the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm, clients and other transaction parties.  The Paralegal must display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus. A Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is required, as well as a minimum of three (3) years of related law firm or in house experience as a Real Estate Paralegal.  Experience in title insurance and ALTA survey review is required.  Solid experience assisting on commercial, multi-state real estate transactions is preferred.  An ideal candidate should have knowledge of basic corporate structures and UCC matters.  Latham & Watkins is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
