    POSITION PROFILE 

    This position is responsible for helping to create and foster an environmental health and safety culture at Knoll.  Candidates will formulate and facilitate Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic programs to assist managers in providing a safe workplace for all associates and to comply with all Federal, State and local regulations second Knoll policies and procedures. Provide oversight to all sites for a first aid program including post incident screening, treatment, and case management with the Third Party Administrator to ensure work instructions are followed and enforced. This individual will be actively involved in return to work coordination with Human Resource Business Partners. Lead the ergonomic program, including training, health risk improvements, and collaborate with the different local medical providers.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Execute effective Case Management for the sites and assist management staff in their case management.
    • Ensure associates receive appropriate levels of quality healthcare while maintaining effective cost controls.
    • Assist site leadership with Workers’ Compensation process.
    • Oversee Third Party Administrator case management to ensure diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plan and next appointment are appropriate.
    • Prepare and maintain Job Demand Assessments, when necessary, negotiate appropriate work restrictions with medical providers.
    • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling with Third Party Administrator and communicate results and corrective actions as appropriate.
    • Participate in emergency response efforts.
    • Organize first aid training to include CPR/AED/First aid response.
    • Participate in claims reviews with site management team, and Third Party Administrator Claims Adjustors and Broker to reduce the costs and frequency of Worker’s Compensation claims.
    • Identify opportunities for case reductions.
    • Serve as Corporate Representative for litigated cases.
    • Identify and evaluate fee schedule negotiations for local medical services to ensure effective pricing and continuity of medical care for employees.
    • Review OSHA Logs and medical records to ensure continuity and compliance across the company.
    • Coordinate monthly safety metrics from all sites to present to Supply Chain and Corporate level.
    • Maintain HIPPA compliance and educate on privacy rights.
    • Educate site leadership on how to screen associates with health concerns and refer personal medical issues identified to outside providers.
    • Assist the sites in managing OSHA inspections related to occupational health areas to include recordkeeping.
    • Identify leading indicators to assist Safety in implementing preventative measures through ergonomic projects or administrative controls to reduce loss.
    • Collaborate with HR Compliance, Benefits/HR and the site management team on medical issues related to new hire practices, annual surveillance, emergency response efforts, FMLA/ADA, or workers’ compensation management.
    • Partner with the Benefits Leave Specialist on work related FMLA/ADA leaves.
    • Promote wellness engagement and education across the company
    • Participate in company compliance assessments
    • Other projects and duties as requested.

    Required Skills

    TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:  

    • Experience with and/or education in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and manufacturing processes.
    • Experience with worker’s compensation claim management.
    • Experience with regulatory reporting (OSHA, BLS, WSIB-Canada)
    • Experience with Ergonomics tools such as Humantech.

    INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:

    • Participates as a member of the corporate environmental, heath, and safety Leadership Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of EHS team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
    • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in safety, health or related field preferred.
