    Construction Company based on the west side looking for candidates for remodeling projects mostly on the Westside and occasionally in Kihei/Makena. Present projects in Kapalua. Job Summary Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. The noise level in the work environment is moderate noise Responsibilities: • Inspect, maintain and repair structures • Calculate, shape, cut, and smooth materials • Construct window and door frames, rafters, partitions, and stairways • Review blueprints and sketches to understand requirements • Chisel and assemble kitchen cabinets, drywall, siding, and furniture Essential Duties • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment • Verify the trueness of structure • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine the dimensions and materials required • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools • Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level • Install horizontal and vertical studs to frames to attach wallboards • Cutting tidy openings into boards for electrical outlets, vents, and fixtures • Install framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents • Supervise general construction workers, when required • Assist supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation • Cleaning and preparing construction sites • Loading and unloading materials and equipment • Ensure tasks are completed to deadlines • Perform additional assignments per the supervisor’s direction Secondary Duties • Assist Superintendents and/or Project Management with the selection and purchase of lumber or other required materials • Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports. • Assist the Superintendent and/or Project Management with arranging subcontractors to deal with special areas, such as heating or electrical wiring work • Attend meetings and workshops • Perform other job-related duties, as required Supervisory Responsibilities • Assist Superintendents/Foremen with leading and training laborers, apprentices, and new hires Qualifications: • Successfully completed formal carpentry apprenticeship • Strong physical condition and excellent hand dexterity • A high school diploma or GED is preferred • Proficient in carpentry tools, techniques, and materials • Valid driver’s license required Requirements: • Own power tools • Cell phone with internet • Personal protection, steel-toed boots, sound and dust protection • Reliable transportation • Works well in a small team environment and can take directions • Follows all OSHA and company safety requirements without question • Follows all company operations standards, policies and processes • Detail-oriented and shows pride in their work • Positive outlook even when challenged with physically or mentally demanding situations • Willing to ask questions if uncertain • Candidate needs to be organized Education • This position requires some high school education and 4 years to 5 years of previous experience • A high school diploma (or GED or high school equivalence certificate) is preferred While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear • Occasionally exposed to sit; taste or smell The employee must: • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include: • Close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus Compensation: $40 - $55 hourly
